Hello pm, this is such a deeply moving poem. The journey is a theme very prevalent in my life and something of which I carry very strong beliefs. Your poem aligns with them. It is beautiful work.

This felt like nature itself, slowly metamorphosing into an exploration of endurance. A wonderful poem.

What stayed with me was the gate.

After all that carrying, all that effort to arrive, the poem discovers that the grave is not an ending but another elevation.

The mountain returns wearing a different name.

Actually I've finally added the last two lines after reaching the end… suddenly a new mountain arrived💙 That's the essence of this piece💙 I'm so glad it's conveying meaning clearly💙 Many thanks for such a beautiful response💙💙💙

Wow, this was really beautiful. Heavy, but in a way that felt so honest. I loved how each place felt like a different part of the journey.

The speaker spends the poem moving toward what appears to be an ending, carrying the weight of body and soul across fields, mountains, rivers, and desert, only to discover that the gate itself belongs to the journey. There is something deeply human in that. We often imagine a future point where the burden will finally be set down, where the struggle will resolve into arrival. Yet life has a habit of transforming endings into thresholds. "The gate isn't the end, it's just another mountain." A powerful closing line, pm:)

This really delivers the heavy weariness of some journey’s and the way they feel endless….seeking a gate that gives a lighter feel only to meet another mountain

pm's avatar

Yeah, indeed, it's the journey that's tough and it's even tougher when I try to sort out one problem, only for another to rise from it. You've truly been through its core.. That's the essence of this piece💙 I'm so glad it's conveying meaning clearly. 💙 Many thanks for such a beautiful response. 💙💙💙

I think that is beautifully written and a wonderful description of the human life. I very much liked the imagery, use of color, and tempo. Thank-you for sharing your talent and wisdom, pm. It gently reminds me of a favorite verse of mine; “ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Once upon a time

I stood below a mountain

Unable to look up

Then on a tower

I fell off, glad it was a dream

Now I find myself

On words I said piled up

Looking at a path ahead

Not afraid of sunset.
