I was moved by the way the lamp doesn’t try to defeat the darkness, or even to change it. It simply remains. Sometimes the most faithful presence is the one that asks nothing of what it witnesses.
Oh, another masterful work, pm. This is also one of your best poems. I have read so many of your artful words and I am very aware you are still, ever-improving.
That's so sweet of you😇😇Thankyou so so much... I feel so motivated and I'm so glad I'm learning to improve... Yup so so happy😊 It means a lot to hear from you🤗Wish you a great day🤗
yes, you are still improving. What a delight to be able to say this of my friend.
Having the opportunity to read 4 of your poems in a single day was marvelous. Maybe falling behind in my reading and other Substack work isn’t such a disaster after all. Not when it offers opportunities such as this!
Beautifully written. What stayed with me wasn’t simply the image of the lamp, but what it came to represent. We often believe love must fix, advise, or intervene. This poem gently suggests another possibility—that sometimes the greatest act of compassion is simply remaining present without judgment. The lamp doesn’t choose who deserves its light; it witnesses everyone equally. That quiet impartiality gave this piece a timeless quality. Thank you for sharing it.
I'm too glad that my words are useful in anyway... Thanks a lot for such amazing words n for reading my page😇😇I truly appreciate😊really, it means a lot 🤗🤗
The lamp felt to me like our Divine Self. It’s been there all along. It knows everything about us. And still it loves us through everything and waits patiently for us to notice it’s here with us. Loved this. Thank you!!
It didn't fix the pain.
It didn't answer the questions.
It stayed.
Sometimes the most powerful
presence in a room
is the one
that asks nothing
and doesn't leave.

We need more lamps.
Absolutely I agree😇So glad you've liked it😊Thankyou so so much🤗
I like to see it as a beacon of hope. 😊 here's a tiny poem it sparked in me. -
In the deepest night, a beacon stands,
Not to banish every shadow,
But to whisper to the weary,
"Keep walking."
For even the smallest light
Can become the reason
Someone finds their way home.
